I like adventures. Such a shame to call myself an adventurous person if I never take part in any treasure hunt, no? I took part in ALL the camping activities that organized by my uniform society in secondary, but when I grew up become a working adult, I never have the chance to do that, until I came across with an advertisement printed in a very small column in a newspaper last month ago, I called up my buddies to inform them about these.
And they agreed! Yay for me!
Date: 28th - 29th May 2011
Route: Shah Alam-Klang-Kuala Selangor-Sekinchan-Sungai Besar
All you need for this treasure hunt is at least 4 members in a team, a car with sufficient petrol and there you off for the adventurous journey!
Attended the first briefing that took place one day before the treasure hunt in Nanyang Siangpau Building. This treasure hunt required Chinese speaker and most importantly all must be able to read Chinese in order to read the instructions and questions to complete the routes.
We were all tired the night before, thus the last minute job before the event starts. Early in the morning, I woke up to prepare breakfast for them (since I was the only one with cooking ability). We reached at the meeting point, Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam at 7.00 am.
Teamed up with them, it was a good catchup since secondary! To be truth, hardly have faith in our own team as we all are partially-Chinese-educated, the worst part is I am the best among them in understanding Chinese verbs and saying.
There were up to 50 teams!I realized that the luck of winning it is zero. Most of the teams are frequent participants for treasure hunt since years ago and apparently my team is still rookie!
Rookie #4 is the driver of the team. While Rookie #3 will be the map/routes analyst and the rest will be responsible to solve questions and missions given so to get our team to the next point.
Mission #1: Take a group picture with a Selangor Flag.
Mission #2: Get a picture with one of the securities in Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery.
Mission #3: Buy a RM3 kite at Pantai Remis.
And fly the kite up to 2 meters!
These are just few of the missions to be completed in order to proceed to the next point. After a one whole day of hectic traveling schedules, we are now of to our registered homestay in Sekinchan.
There is still a plenty of time before all the homestays are ready to welcome us, most of the participants down to the mud pool to catch loach/ mud fish 泥鳅 !
Being a city girl, I proud to tell you all that I caught four! The picture above is Rookie #3 helping the Rookie #4 to catch his first mud fish :P
At night, despite my terrible hair and face conditions after exposed under the hot sun and soaked myself in the mud pool, I'm having good time taking a long shower!
It's time to reveal the answers. We answered about 70% of the questions correctly and the rest went to drain, our efforts squeezing the brain juice all wasted!
We are lucky thou. This is the lucky draw I got. A pair of sunglasses. Other teams are luckier, some of them got luggages, a carton of drinks, even a pair of tickets flying to New Delhi sponsored by Air Asia!
The next day, our team had registered for the batik-making workshop and half-day Sekinchan Visiting.
It isn't my first time painting a batik. My form 5 art assignment was batik-making and I scored flying color for that. Apparently my coloring skill are better than what I expected #justsaying, I can still remember what my art teacher had taught me about mixing the colors together.
Then, we placed the clothes under the sun to dry it up.
While waiting, we bought ice creams and take a short strolling down to the padi field. I brought my Sprocket and Diana F+ there too. Used up a roll of film but I haven't process it hence no lomo-pictures uploaded here.
It took us about one hour for the clothes to be dried up. After we collected our batik, we are now departing to the most-famous padi factory in Sekinchan.
The weather is killing! I did not have the urge to visit this Chinese Temple thou but just to buy few cans of soft drinks from a selling booth there.
It's lunch time. We decided not to join other teams to have lunch together. One of the stalls we randomly found is a ABC stall.
Next stop, we visited to a fishing village. Sad to eye witness myself how polluted is the river there. Rubbish thrown and floating on the surface of the water. But despite of the hygiene issue, most of the seafood supplies are from here.
There is nothing interest me in the fishing village to be frank. I went to Pulau Ketam and Sandakan which are more suitable to bring the name of famous fishing village. My favorite is Sandakan, I am flying there again this coming August.
My humble opinion is, Sekinchan is originally famous of its padi fields and beautiful scenery of beaches along. Not forgetting to mention its rich bird nest supplies.
I want to fly the kite too! But since we have only one kite, so while waiting I took fewartistic pictures.
Finally, my hands on the strings!
Along the road going back home, we saw this and decided to stop by.
The coconut water is salty! It costs us at a reasonably RM5 with 2 tablespoons of honey added per coconut.
We reached home safely at 9 pm. Below are few of the goodies we received during the first briefing. One person is entitled to ONE goodies bag which includes the samples as shown below.
And oh, I saw this during my homestay in Sekinchan.
And they agreed! Yay for me!
