Bon mercredi!
Yours truly just back from Sandakan two in the morning. Despite the flight delay, the vacation is awesome! Had my sunbathing and seafood retreat after months I've been longing for! Yes my flight from Sandakan to Kuala Lumpur was delayed an hour due to the bad weather, during the waiting time, I get bored; when I get bored, I'll think of food, so when I thought of food, I feel hungry, thus I bought all these on board. See that, it's a devastating cycle.
We flew with different airlines. Four of us flew with Air Asia while my mom and younger sister flew with Firefly instead.
Hopped on a Range Rover and we transferred to our hotel. Firstly I was worry about the transport. Differently from the previous group, this time we were in a bigger group of 7. Apparently it's not a problem anymore as we all fitted easily into the 4x4!
This time, I will introduce some of the must visit places according to places I visited instead of divide my post to "Day One" "Day Two" or "Day Three". If according to days my Sandakan post will be up to 8 posts. Hesitated. And so,
#1: Sim Sim Seafood Restaurant
Sandakan is commonly famous of its seafood and this restaurant is highly recommended by the local Sandakan people for its affordable and reasonably prices. Sim Sim Seafood is a dockside fishery, where the daily catch is unloaded, sorted and processed. Before the dining area there are a spacious place where all the tank and aquariums are placed; all the preys are kept accordingly.
It's located at Sim Sim Bridge 8. You can easily drive there with a GPS on hand. Optionally, call a cab and have yourself dropped off at the entrance for a seafood retreat! Just a reminder, when you reach the entrance of this restaurant, there were 2 restaurants with similar name, you must pick the left turn. The other one is not recommended as local people commented that it's a tourist-must-visit-place, so you get what I meant?
These are few of our ordered meals. We ordered a 1.5KG fish, another 2KG of crabs, 1KG of tiger prawns and few drinks, the total bill was merely reached RM200! Super cheap!
Almost all my meals in Sandakan are seafood. Before took a flight back, we bought 3 huge boxes of various seafood; not forgetting some of the dried seafood, coffee bean, sea-grass and cakes in my hand luggage.
2# : Puh Gih Jih Chinese Temple
A majestic temple built on top of a hill facing Sandakan Bay. Feel the breeze and take a scenery view across the town and the huge bay of Sandakan.
It's my second time here thus less photos taken. More photos can be found in my Facebook Page, enjoy!
More to come. Stay tuned.
